Well! On your wedding morning, the schedule will be like that: hair and makeup, girly photographs, a bite to eat and trip down memory lane, and, the all-important finally getting into your dress. But if you’re all looking after you, who is looking after your venue, and all those beautiful decorations you’ve so carefully collected for the last few months?
The often unplanned for problem of who will decorate your venue on the morning of your wedding day could dash all your decorative plans at the last minute – and we definitely don’t want that to happen! Here are our five tips to get your venue ready on your wedding day for a seamless finish, whatever your theme and style.
1. CAN YOU GET IN THERE EARLY?
Some wedding venues allow early access the day before the wedding as part of your package. This gives you precious time to add and approve all the finishing touches. Check with your venue when you book what their rules are, both in terms of what decorations you can add and when you’ll be able to do so. That way you know whether you’ll have time before the big day to get set up or make alternative plans.
2. WHO WILL BE FREE BEFORE THE CEREMONY?
Consider who might be free on your wedding morning to decorate on your behalf if you can’t get into your venue early. Remember, your closest girls and guys will most likely be with you getting ready, so you might need to look further afield. If you’ve hired a wedding planner, enlist their help for this. If it’s worrying you, why not hire a wedding stylist to sort it all out for you?
3. DO THEY COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND YOUR VISION?
Whoever you do ask needs to know exactly where you want things and what the overall impact should be. Show them your Pinterest board. Visit the venue together beforehand. You could even draw them a layout with all your details included. This way, whoever does the décor will create the vision you’re dreaming of and there’ll be no disappointment.
4. HAVE YOU THOUGHT ABOUT YOUR OTHER SUPPLIERS?
It won’t just be your chosen venue team visiting on the wedding morning. Other suppliers will also be there, depending on what you’ve booked. These could include your florist, cake maker and hire companies (for tables, chairs, table linen…). They will all need to know what should go where, so make sure someone at your venue knows to avoid frantic phone calls interrupting your magical morning.
5. HOW LONG DO YOU ACTUALLY NEED?
Whether it’s a stylist, friends or someone else decorating the venue, be realistic about how long they’ll actually need, especially if it is happening on the day. You’ve all got a ceremony to get to (on time!) so allow plenty of time to prep the venue. Save room for unexpected problems to crop up, too.
